About The Position

The Food Service Worker I is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, kitchen areas, and floors. This role involves taking out trash, maintaining safety standards, delivering food carts and supplies, and assisting with other kitchen duties as needed. The position requires the ability to speak and read English sufficiently for job functions, knowledge of standard office equipment and computer software, and adherence to Palomar Health rules and policies.

Requirements

High School Diploma and/or combination of education and experience
0 - 6 months experience
Valid food handler card issued by a San Diego county authorized food handler training school
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position
Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job

Responsibilities

Working in the dishroom
Ensuring cleanliness of all dishes, pots, pans and general kitchen area
Ensuring floors are kept clean
Taking out trash
Maintaining safety and sanitation standards
Delivering and retrieving food carts and supplies
Assist in several other kitchen duties as needed
Cleans assigned areas following established practices and procedures for quality, safety, and infection control
Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position
Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail)
Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job
Performs other duties as assigned
