About The Position

UW Medicine-Montlake- Food and Nutrition has an outstanding opportunity for an intermittent (temporary) Food Service Worker. This position provides workload coverage as needed to meet departmental needs. The Nutrition and Food Services department supports UWMC's mission by delivering extraordinary experiences with compassionate evidence-based care, unforgettable customer service, and fresh and nutritious food for patients, families, and the greater community. Requirements

  • Possession of, or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
  • One year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent, respectful customer service to a diverse customer base, in a medical setting
  • Prepare and serve food and beverages compliant with medically prescribed diet orders, including fluid, texture, electrolyte and nutrient restrictions in a medically vulnerable population or with special attention to food allergens and cross-contamination
  • Under general supervision, perform a variety of advanced Food Service Worker duties in preparing and serving food and beverages for medically vulnerable populations, or with special attention to food allergens and cross-contamination, and perform clean-up and sanitization activities for food equipment
  • Perform advanced Food Service Worker duties to prepare and serve food and beverages for medically vulnerable populations, or with special attention to food allergens and cross-contamination
  • Retrieval and processing of food and food preparation/serving equipment with adherence to healthcare-level infection and cross-contamination prevention protocols
