About The Position

This is a part-time wage position where employees are paid only for hours worked. The role involves preparing snacks, nourishments, and other food items for resident service and the trayline, assisting with sanitation, and cleaning trays, carts, and equipment. The position also requires delivering food items such as patient meals, snacks, and bag lunches to various locations accurately and in a timely manner. Additionally, the role involves picking up soiled trays and equipment and returning them to Food Services for cleaning and storage. A key responsibility is driving a Food Service box truck or other hospital vehicle safely, while maintaining its maintenance and sanitary condition. When delivering patient trays, the driver must accurately load them into the retherm unit for each building, ensuring correct placement of hot and cold food to prevent loss and delays. The role may also involve assisting with food preparation and training new employees.

  • Ability to work a flexible shift to include weekend and holidays and/or overtime.
  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of Food Service operations, food preparation and sanitation.
  • Ability to drive a box truck with both automatic and manual transmissions.
  • Must be able to complete provided Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Performing essential functions of this position requires the ability to lift heavy objects; bending and stooping; prolonged standing and walking on various surfaces (i.e. concrete, tile. grass, dirt, etc.); ability to work in various environmental conditions (extreme humidity, heat or cold); and routinely lift 50 pounds or 25% of body weight, whichever is less.

  • Food Service training with basic knowledge of food service sanitation, safety and service requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare snacks, nourishments, and other food items for resident service and the trayline.
  • Maintain sanitation.
  • Clean trays, carts, and other equipment.
  • Help on the trayline when needed.
  • Deliver food in the form of patient meals, nourishments, snacks, bag lunches and special functions to various locations in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Pickup soiled trays and equipment and convey these items back to Food Services for cleaning and storage in a timely manner.
  • Drive a Food Service box truck or other hospital vehicle in a safe manner and maintain the maintenance and sanitary condition of the vehicle used.
  • Accurately load patient trays into the retherm unit for each building, ensuring that hot and cold food is correctly placed on the retherm carts.
  • Assist with preparation of snacks, nourishments, and other food items for patient service.
  • May be asked to help train new employees.
