Additionally, the role involves picking up soiled trays and equipment and returning them to Food Services for cleaning and storage. A key responsibility is driving a Food Service box truck or other hospital vehicle safely, while maintaining its maintenance and sanitary condition. When delivering patient trays, the driver must accurately load them into the retherm unit for each building, ensuring correct placement of hot and cold food to prevent loss and delays. The role may also involve assisting with food preparation and training new employees.
