About The Position
This role is within Food and Nutrition Services and focuses on food preparation and service. The Food Service Tech is responsible for assembling trays according to dietary needs, preparing food items according to recipes, and ensuring proper food storage and sanitation. The position also involves managing diet orders, menus, and inventory, as well as operating and maintaining kitchen equipment. The role requires adherence to established procedures and policies, and may involve supervising a Steward/ess.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of prior cook experience
Responsibilities
- Accurately assembles trays according to prescribed diets in a timely manner.
- Accurately prepares food items according to recipes and oven loading instructions.
- Demonstrates standard procedures for preparing meals for service.
- Properly processes diet orders and menus; runs all required reports from nutrition software.
- Prepares food inventory and requisitions in an accurate and clear manner.
- Accurately follows instructions and guidelines for the proper storage of food and supplies.
- Properly operates, sanitizes, and maintains equipment in the work area.
- Demonstrates correct service ware cleaning and dishwashing procedures.
- Accepts assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
- Complies with policies and adapts to changes in the unit as required.
- Supervises Steward/ess.
