About The Position

The Food Service Team Member manages food service operations while keeping the store clean, well-stocked, and secure. The role focuses on customer service, food safety, store maintenance, food preparation and display, and inventory management. Team members also handle cash and support overall store operations as needed.

This position is advertised for second shifts, with afternoons and evenings noted. Flexible schedules are available, and open availability is a plus. The starting pay is $13.50 per hour, with weekly pay.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide customer service.
• Ability to maintain food quality, cleanliness, and safety standards while managing multiple tasks during a busy shift.
• Ability to handle customer complaints and resolve food service issues calmly and professionally.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other associates, including during overnight hours.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems, inventory software, and scheduling tools.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 8 hours during shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, frequently 10–25 pounds, and carry items across the store.
• Ability to bend, squat, reach, climb a ladder as needed, and walk regularly throughout the store and between departments.
• Ability to handle cash, operate registers, bag items, and perform repetitive tasks such as scanning, restocking, and organizing.
• Comfort working in cold environments, including freezers and refrigerators, and around varying kitchen temperatures, including hot cooking surfaces.
• Ability to perform physical tasks consistently throughout a shift, handle emergency situations, and work alone.
• Seasonal snow removal as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Previous food service or retail experience, especially in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic food preparation experience and familiarity with kitchen equipment.
• Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain certification during training.
• ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification; not required at the time of hire.
• Familiarity with basic office software such as Word and Excel.
• Open availability.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers, answer questions, recommend food, process transactions, and promote specials and food items to support sales.
• Prepare, cook, and assemble food to store recipes and standards, maintaining food quality, presentation, taste, and portion control.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and prepare accurate orders in a timely manner.
• Follow food safety standards and local health codes; monitor food temperatures and expiration dates.
• Clean and organize the food service area, kitchen, dining area, workstations, equipment, and surfaces; manage food waste and expired or damaged products.
• Monitor food inventory, rotate products using FIFO, restock supplies, organize items, and report shortages or discrepancies to the Food Service Manager.
• Use the POS system to process transactions and accurately handle cash, credit, and debit payments.
• Assist with shift closing, cash register reconciliation, and cash drawer balancing; track and report food sales and inventory usage during the overnight shift.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of food service and retail areas, and monitor store security, doors, and alarms; report suspicious activity to management.
• Follow emergency procedures, including fire safety, first aid, and emergency contact protocols.
• Communicate relevant food service issues, inventory concerns, and customer feedback to the morning shift team.
• Collaborate with coworkers and assist with cleaning, restocking, and other tasks as needed.
