About The Position

The Wisconsin Union is recruiting for two shift managers. The positions are part of the team that oversees some of our most popular venues in the Memorial Union: Lakefront Lounge, Daily Scoop, Strada, and the summer terrace BBQ stand. As the social heart of UW–Madison, the Wisconsin Union provides events, facilities, and activities for students, staff, faculty, thousands of Union members, and campus visitors. It also offers hands‑on leadership opportunities for hundreds of UW–Madison students.

Requirements

  • Previous restaurant experience
  • ServSafe Certificate required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Alcohol Server License required or able to obtain within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Previous restaurant experience in supervisory or lead role

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing quality food preparation and presentation
  • Customer service
  • Guiding and directing staff
  • Training and supervision of student staff
  • Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • Assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • Develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Enforcement of State and Local drinking laws and University policies and procedures.
