About The Position

This role is for a Food Service Supervisor in a structured, residential setting, focused on creating a welcoming, dependable dining experience. The supervisor will lead daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and serving, with an emphasis on quality, safety, and care. Responsibilities include opening and closing the kitchen, managing supplies, reducing waste, and guiding a team of food service professionals in a respectful, routine-based environment. The role is hands-on, with approximately 90% of the day spent actively involved in kitchen tasks. Maintaining cleanliness, safety, and compliance with standards is crucial. The supervisor will also handle customer feedback, contribute to seasonal menus, and participate in wellness promotions and community initiatives. This position is vital for providing consistent, nourishing meals that offer comfort and feel like home, while also managing food orders and government commodities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Proficient in recipe procedure and cooking techniques.
  • Ability to speak and read English to understand and perform job assignments.
  • Extensive physical demands including lifting up to 40lbs, bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience in a food service supervisor role.
  • Serv Safe certified or willing to obtain certification within 90 days of entering the position.
  • Basic knowledge of food service sanitation and proper food handling skills.
  • Ability to assess the workflow of the kitchen and make adjustments as needed.
  • Ability to delegate tasks to associates and verify completion.
  • Ability to evaluate the performance of associates, identify areas of improvement, and provide guidance on corrective actions.
  • Must possess and display leadership and team management skills.

  • Ability to stand and walk on concrete and tile floors for up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Ability to safely lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures.
  • Proficient in the operation of a personal computer including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in food service cooking required.
