About The Position
The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana by providing medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Service Specialist Supervisor to serve as the shift supervisor over a group of lower-level Food Service Specialists and those engaged in activities in a food service operation.
Requirements
- Three years of food service experience in a food service operation; OR Three years of training in food technology, food service management, or in a food service-related curriculum in a trade school or technical institute; OR Thirty-six semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or hotel, food service, restaurant, or institutional management.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct and indirect supervision, guidance, and assistance to subordinates.
- Instructs subordinates in proper food preparation, serving, storage and cleaning.
- Reviews and evaluates the performance of subordinates, counsels employees, trains staff, and approves leave.
- Assists in food preparation and is responsible for the final food product.
- Prepares diet cards for patients and ensures that the cards are updated as ordered by the physicians.
- Maintains records of meals served and leftovers.
