About The Position

The Food Service Operations Specialist is a key player in the daily food service operations for both the Café and Meals on Wheels programs. This role involves supporting café order production, providing customer service, and assembling meal trays for hot delivered meal routes. The ideal candidate should be organized, dependable, and capable of quick thinking while upholding high standards of food quality, sanitation, and teamwork. The position demands flexibility, strong communication skills, and a dedication to community service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday meals, ensuring accuracy and quality
  • Plan ahead by checking inventory and ensuring food is prepped and ready for service
  • Maintain kitchen equipment, cleanliness, and sanitation standards
  • Crosstrain on all café equipment, stations, and duties
  • Open and/or close the café dinner area as scheduled
  • Provide excellent customer service and handle issues professionally when management is not on-site
  • Set up and prepare tray line operations by 8:00 a.m., Monday - Friday including pans, utensils, and sanitizer stations
  • Serve prepared foods into trays accurately and efficiently according to route requirements
  • Work closely with the Line Lead, cooks, and team members to maintain pace and quality
  • Monitor food quality and communicate concerns promptly to leadership
  • Ensure proper handling and distribution of side items and frozen meals
  • Motivate and support fellow team members on the line
  • Maintain compliance with sanitation laws and food safety codes
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks as assigned
  • Assist in other food service areas, including the Meals on Wheels kitchen, as needed
  • Participate in trainings, staff meetings, fundraising events, and other required activities
  • Carry out additional related duties as assigned by the Director
