About The Position

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a Food Service Manager for Mars Hill University in Mars Hill, North Carolina. The position manages and supervises the main dining hall and oversees both front-of-house and back-of-house operations. The ideal candidate brings culinary experience and service leadership to improve operational performance and provide standout guest experiences. The role includes working with the Chef and management team on nutritious, high-quality menu items and implementing culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams. The manager also maintains client relationships and manages, trains, and develops associates.

Requirements

1 to 3 years of food service management experience.
Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Financial experience and business acumen skills.
Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities

Manage and supervise the main dining hall location.
Schedule associates and forecast labor based on weekly revenues.
Oversee front-of-house and back-of-house operations to ensure company standards are consistently met.
Assist with inventory, culinary production and forecasting, and receiving product deliveries from vendors.
Perform compliance audits and complete safety checklists.
Work with the Chef and management team to create nutritious, high-quality menu items.
Implement new culinary programs in conjunction with marketing and culinary teams.
Maintain excellent relationships with the client.
Manage, train, and develop associates.
Perform other duties as assigned.
