About The Position

The Food Service Category Manager trainee is responsible for learning and demonstrating proficiency in assigned work responsibilities, including Deli, Restaurant, and Catering. The role focuses on maximizing sales, controlling expenses, and ensuring high customer service standards. The trainee will gain experience in various aspects of food service management, including staffing, quality control, inventory management, and compliance with safety regulations. This position offers a path to an Exempt Salaried role upon successful completion of training.

Requirements

Prior 2-5 years’ food service experience preferably in managing the operation as a lead or assistant manager.
Must be available to work 40 hours per week while training, including nights and weekends.
Hourly Position while training
40 hours a week

Nice To Haves

Upon Successful completion of training position transitions to Exempt Salaried position working 45 Hours a week - Store hours and some weekends

Responsibilities

Maximizes sales generation.
Monitors and enforces customer service standards for deli, kitchen, restaurant, and catering employees.
Schedules and executes effective and efficient labor.
Maximizes profitability through expense control, ordering, shrink control, and efficient production.
Maximizes sales through customer satisfaction, department cleanliness, and suggestive selling and food presentation.
Establishes and maintains effective and efficient staffing guidelines needed for customer service and satisfaction.
Assists in identifying and recommending career opportunities for employees’ development.
Enforces standards of quality through personal observation, communication, and follow-through.
Keeps abreast of competition’s activities and makes recommendations for menu items and other promotions.
Assists with forecasting budgets for sales, expenses, and operating profits in the Deli, Bakery, and Catering areas, as well as capital expenditure recommendations.
Controls shrink, inventory levels, supply costs, repair maintenance, and cash.
Implements safety and sanitary procedures to comply with governmental regulations.
Directs the execution of all programs and projects as it relates to areas of responsibilities.
Implements and communicates policy and procedure.
Performs other duties as directed or assigned.
