About The Position

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for a Food Service Liaison to join their team. The Food Service Liaison is a customer relations specialist who will educate patients about their menus, assist patients with ordering as needed, and deliver meals to the bedside. They will be the face of the Nutritional Services Department throughout Idaho Falls Community Hospital (IFCH) and Mountain View Hospital (MVH) and will keep coffee stations and nutrition stations stocked. Idaho Falls Community Hospital is committed to providing compassionate, emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, a stroke and diagnostic cardiac center, and a trauma center. Requirements

  • High school graduate (or equivalent)
  • Food Handler’s Permit (required within 90 days of employment)
  • Will train the right person for skill set

Responsibilities

  • Orient and prepare patients for meal service
  • Deliver menus to patients
  • Orient the patient to the menu, explaining its various parts (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, Beverage, Dessert, Condiments) and the process for ordering meals through room service.
  • Ask patients if they have additional questions and assist with ordering meals if needed.
  • Visit patients with a tablet to take their order in person if they have not ordered by a designated time.
  • Use the iPad language translator to communicate with non-English-speaking patients as needed.
  • Deliver meal trays to patients in a timely manner, using patient identification procedures and recording delivery times.
  • Provide personalized assistance with meal trays as needed (e.g., opening beverages, getting ice, cutting food).
  • Maintain a constant rotation of used and clean dish carts to provide the kitchen with dishes, bases, and silverware.
  • Stock floor nutrition stations, waiting areas, and doctors’ lounges daily, rotating food using a First In, First Out method and pulling expired products.
  • Refill and restock coffee stations promptly in the morning and throughout the day as needed.
  • Prepare and initial stocking lists and provide paperwork to the Patient Nutrition Coordinator.
  • Process stocks in the DFM program on an electronic tablet for billing to correct departments.
  • Participate in continued education, training, and maintenance of Food Handlers’ Permits.
  • Complete yearly competency in tray passing.
  • Complete training and maintain competency in using the iPad language translator.
  • Complete standard Idaho Falls Community Hospital, Nutritional Services, and position-specific Health Stream educations in a timely manner.
  • Participate in intra and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Participate in short daily Huddle meetings under the direction of the Patient Nutrition Coordinator and/or Nutritional Services Manager.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Nutritional Services staff meetings (mandatory unless excused for vacation or illness/leave).
  • Read meeting notes carefully and seek clarification if needed when a meeting is missed.
  • Attend additional meetings as needed.
