About The Position

Assabet Valley Collaborative (AVC) is seeking a Part-Time Food Service Assistant for its Therapeutic Day School, Orchard Street Academy. This is a benefits-eligible position with a weekly schedule of 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. AVC is an educational service agency in Metrowest/Central Massachusetts, offering various services including school programs, wraparound services, transportation, professional development, and consulting. Orchard Street Academy is a small public therapeutic school serving grades 6th-12th. The ideal candidate will be a leader and learner, flexible, resourceful, and thrive in a fast-paced, non-traditional, collaborative environment. They should understand educational and human service institutions, possess a learning mindset, be able to receive feedback, self-reflect, and adapt, and effectively facilitate the learning of others. The role involves ongoing examination of individual and interpersonal beliefs and their impact on work within micro and macro systems, striving for Educational Equity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Adhere to established federal, state, and local laws and regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, and IDEA).
  • Experience working in schools, nonprofits, human service organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual or multilingual is a plus.
  • Post-secondary college, work, military, or specialized training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordination of breakfast and lunch program.
  • Obtain and maintain Serve Safe, Choke Saver, CPR and Allergy Awareness Certifications.
  • Post monthly school menus.
  • Track daily breakfast and lunch orders.
  • Coordinate breakfast and lunch program with liaison from Marlborough Public Schools - including ordering of food and submitting required documentation/reports.
  • Some assembly of foods, such as mixing salads, assembling sandwiches, or heating of precooked foods.
  • Safe operation of kitchen equipment.
  • Clean equipment, storage and work area during the work day.
  • Maintain proper storage of food.
  • Maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies.
  • Implements the day to day operation of the school environment by monitoring/supervising and assisting students throughout program space (ex: transition between classes, bathroom escorts, meals, arrival/dismissal).
  • Participates and engage in professional development and community events.
  • Supports staff in the collection of IEP data, Transition and Support Plans, and other plans.
  • Completes necessary documentation.
  • Complies with collaborative wide policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
