The Food Service Helper assists in the preparation and service of quality food to students in a quick and pleasant manner and assists in the collection of funds for meals to deposit. This role supports the mission of Joplin Schools and the value of education. The employee is expected to become familiar with, enforce, and follow all applicable Board policies and regulations, administrative procedures, other directions given by district administrators and supervisors, and state and federal laws. They must properly supervise students at all times if applicable, obey all safety rules, care for and protect school property, and maintain courteous and professional relationships with students, parents/guardians, other district employees, and the public. Effective communication with supervisors, department staff, and the community is essential. The role requires providing excellence in customer service, complying with privacy rights, and safeguarding confidential information. The employee must react to change productively, receive and transmit constructive criticism, and actively participate in professional development. All official business must be conducted in a professional and timely manner, utilizing district technology resources. Punctuality is required, and employees must attend all required meetings. Maintaining accurate records and filing systems is necessary for accountability and audit purposes. Problem-solving using math functions and interpreting documents such as work orders and safety rules are also key aspects of the job.
