This position is responsible for the delivery of food to juveniles, preparing modified meals based on healthcare professional recommendations and religious dietary laws. The role also involves managing daily tally reports of juveniles and consumption of products to maintain accurate inventory, assisting in placing orders for food and non-food items, and receiving, checking, and storing food and kitchen supplies. Additionally, the Food Service Handler is responsible for kitchen and dining operations, including setting tables, serving food, cleaning, and storing dishes and equipment, as well as the use and care of kitchen appliances. The position requires attending staff meetings and training, adhering to professional conduct and ethical behavior standards, including those set by the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), TJJD, Cameron County, and CCJJD. Compliance with TJJD standards, including Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) standards, and cooperation with ANE investigations are mandatory. The role also requires adherence to CCJJD's and Cameron County's policies and procedures, maintaining an effective safety program, and abiding by all federal, state, and local laws. The employee is expected to be a good role model and set a good example at all times. Employment is contingent upon federal, state, local and/or grants availability. CCJJD is an At-Will employer, and the department reserves the right to terminate employment for any legal reason, with or without notice. The Food Service Handler may also perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer or designee.
