The Food Service General Worker performs skilled work in the preparation and service of nutritionally adequate, reimbursable meals. The position involves following daily work schedules for food production, service, and cleaning, and participating in ongoing state-approved training related to Food & Nutrition Services. The worker must demonstrate exceptional customer service, operate point-of-sale systems according to federal guidelines, and adhere to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and HACCP principles to ensure a safe work environment. Kitchen duties include pre-preparation, food production, service, backup, clean-up, and checking in orders. The role also assists in ensuring safe meal service with good quality food, helps with ordering, storage, and inventories, and follows recipes and production worksheets. Equipment operation, waste disposal, and sanitation practices are key responsibilities. Additionally, the role may involve driving vans and refrigerated/freezer trucks to satellite sites for food delivery. All activities must comply with equal employment and non-discrimination policies.
