Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification required, or ability to obtain within designated timeframe after hire
  • Interest in gaining experience in food service, nutrition, and facility operations
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness, safety, and quality service
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to safely use cleaning supplies, kitchen tools, and equipment after training
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality in a residential/day treatment treatment setting
  • Willingness to learn food preparation, custodial duties, and facility support responsibilities through on-the-job training
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with a clean motor vehicle record
  • Must be willing to pass FBI fingerprint & child abuse database background checks
  • Applicants must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening as a condition of employment, in accordance with Colorado Department of Human Services regulations for child care facilities. This screening includes state criminal background checks, fingerprinting, sex offender registry searches, and abuse and neglect clearances. If the applicant has lived in any other state within the past five years, equivalent background and abuse/neglect checks from those states will also be conducted. In addition, all direct care applicants are required to complete a health evaluation or physical prior to beginning service to confirm they are fit for duty.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, packaging, and serving nutritionally balanced meals daily for residents.
  • Assisting with meal service setup, delivery, and cleanup Monday–Friday or as assigned.
  • Supporting menu planning for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner, including maintaining recipes and production records.
  • Receiving, storing, and organizing food deliveries and donations safely and efficiently.
  • Maintaining accurate food inventory and assisting with cost tracking per meal as directed.
  • Keeping kitchen, food storage, and dining areas clean, sanitary, and well organized at all times.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety standards, including USDA guidelines, ROAP requirements, and internal documentation.
  • Participating in quality improvement (PQI) processes and assigned tasks.
  • Supporting preparation and coordination of special events and program meals.
  • Performing general facilities support duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal, and restroom upkeep.
  • Assisting with light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and reporting facility issues.
  • Supporting groundskeeping tasks such as snow removal, watering plants, and basic outdoor maintenance.
  • Setting up and breaking down rooms for meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Reporting safety hazards and maintenance needs promptly to Building Operations.
  • Following all safety procedures, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Maintaining professionalism, reliability, and effective communication with staff and residents.
  • Maintaining current food handler certification.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
