About The Position

This position is responsible for performing skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of a wide variety of food service equipment. Work involves diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in electrical, mechanical, and gas-fired food service equipment. Employees in this classification receive general supervision from a supervisor and may provide technical guidance to other maintenance personnel. This class is distinguished from the Food Service Equipment Mechanic by the latter’s responsibility for performing major overhauls and rebuilding of equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in electrical, mechanical, and gas-fired food service equipment including, but not limited to ovens, ranges, fryers, steamers, dishwashers, mixers, refrigerators, freezers, and related equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on food service equipment according to established schedules and procedures. Install new food service equipment as directed. Respond to emergency repair calls as needed. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities. Order and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies. Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics. Follow all safety regulations and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial food service equipment.
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and gas-fired equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to food service equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to order and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Ability to respond to emergency repair calls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in a related field.
  • Certifications from equipment manufacturers.
  • Experience with specialized food service equipment (e.g., combi-ovens, blast chillers).
