About The Position

This position works 40 Weeks per year, 5 days per week at 7 hours per day (6:30am-1:30pm) and follows the EVSC School Board of Trustees approved school calendar. Responsible for the preparation of quality, nutritious, safe meals in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two to three years previous quantity food preparation experience.
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in relation to forecasting and recipe adjustment.
  • Successful completion of the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Course.
  • Successful completion of the EVSC Cook's Training class.
  • Ability to establish and maintain friendly effective working relationships with co-workers, staff, students and their parents.
  • Ability to perform duties and communicate in a noisy environment.
  • Exhibits good organizational skills.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of personal hygiene and sanitation.
  • Work collaboratively with EVSC employees, vendors and community partners in a teamwork-driven environment
  • Provide excellent service in all forms of communication with a results-oriented customer-driven focus
  • Ability to internally motivate, think critically, and initiate strategic improvement
  • Exude a positive and dependable work ethic
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents and school staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains quality, nutritious food
  • Forecasts amounts of food needed and keeps serving line supplied in a timely manner
  • Proactively reacts to changes in food production needs
  • Practices safe food handling
  • Uses preparation equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Cleans and maintains preparation equipment
  • Understands basic meal planning principles
  • Maintains accurate food production records
  • Receives food and supply orders according to approved guidelines
  • Participates in good inventory control
  • Aids manager in the ordering of food and supplies
  • Assists in the training of serving and food preparation food service assistants
  • Maintains regular attendance
