About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing meals served in the Senior Citizen's Center cafeteria. The role involves planning menus, ordering supplies, and directly supervising volunteers who assist in meal preparation, service, and clean-up. There are no budgetary responsibilities associated with this role.

Requirements

• Experience in the operation of a commercial gas stove/oven, convection oven, meat slicer, commercial dishwasher, commercial mixer, warming cabinet, and steam table.
• Knowledge and Skills in cooking and preparing food and proper sanitation procedures.
• Knowledge of basic nutritional value of various foods and ability to plan and prepare well-balanced meals.
• Knowledge of Health Department regulations and sanitary procedures.
• Ability to direct the activities of cafeteria volunteer workers.
• Ability to communicate well with center patrons and volunteers.
• Two years' experience in related field required.
• Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares lunch for Center cafeteria patrons.
• Plans menus to ensure well-balanced meals.
• Researches and adds new items to the menu rotation.
• Recommends best purchases to supervisor and orders supplies.
• Supervises volunteers assisting in the cafeteria.
• Prepares cold sides and desserts in the absence of the cook's assistant, in addition to regular duties.
• Cleans gas stove, warming cabinet, refrigerators, storage racks, counters, & cabinets.
• Follows Health Department regulations on sanitary procedures.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
