About The Position

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year, with a start date of August 10th, 2026. The role involves assisting with the operation of a multi-unit food service operation in compliance with federal and state regulations for Child Nutrition Programs. Key duties include collecting payments, entering data into the computer system, and being accountable for all meals served. Specific responsibilities will vary based on the needs of the food and nutrition services department.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license or the ability to travel within the district as requested.
  • Computational skills in money handling and completing reports.
  • Ability to cope with time pressure.
  • Ability to organize own time and tasks.
  • Ability to effectively use computer-based systems.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must pass a criminal background check, and a child and adult abuse registry check.
  • May require fingerprinting, a drug and alcohol test, a physical capacity test and/or a motor vehicle record check.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma, HiSET or GED
  • School Nutrition Association Membership and Certification
  • Previous cashiering experience in school food service or other food production facility or equivalent work experience in cashiering, accounting, and/or record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the kitchen with daily production tasks including cooking breakfast and other food items.
  • Provide back-up support in the absence of a head cook, including cooking.
  • Complete daily records accurately, including production records.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of reimbursable meals and snacks.
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale system daily to close each production day.
  • Check patrons through the line at serving time for reimbursable meals and charging accounts as needed.
  • Count money and prepare bank deposit daily.
  • Carry out clerking policies and procedures as established by the Food & Nutrition Department.
  • Assist with cleaning at the end of the day in accordance with district and department guidelines.
  • Refill and clean fruit and vegetable bars between service lines.
  • Maintain all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain annual U.S.D.A. professional standards requirements.
  • Read communications from all district stakeholders.
  • Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
  • Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
