About The Position

Wheeler Mission Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping those experiencing homelessness and those in need. This role is considered a ministry position and is a vital part of the team. The Food Services Associate (FSA) is responsible for executing all operational aspects of kitchen support during their assigned shift. They will work alongside other food service associates, volunteers, and program guests to provide nutritious meals to approximately 100 – 350 guests, staff, and other participants while maintaining a safe, clean, and grace-filled environment. The position is Non-Exempt and reports to the Food Service Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience preparing food in a commercial setting preferred.
  • 1+ years of successful, recent work experience, demonstrating dependability and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated desire to learn, grow and develop in previous roles and situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn software systems that support the role.
  • Must be SERV Safe Certified or be able to acquire this certification within 6 months of being hired.
  • Basic Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including email and Word.
  • Basic Proficiency in Pay Com.
  • Belief in the inerrancy of the Holy Bible.
  • Adherence to WM Employee Policies.

  • Availability to work weekends, evenings and holiday hours.
  • Adherence to Conflict of Interest Policy and Confidentiality Policy.

  • Must sign and adhere to WM Drugs and Alcohol policy and remain free from addiction to drugs or alcohol and illegal drug use.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 3 meals per day at the assigned site, including preparation, serving, and cleanup.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment that meets all applicable state, county, and city statutes and codes and complies with best practice standards.
  • Collaborating with others to execute responsibilities.
  • Planning and preparing for meals through contributing to recipe designs, assisting with menu selection, and maintaining an orderly kitchen and storing and preparing food efficiently.
  • Reporting any breakdowns and malfunctions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Attending regular team and site meetings.
  • Completing other duties and preparing for special events when requested.
  • Assisting in the supervision of program guests and volunteers.
