About The Position

A Food Service Associate, also known as a Customer Service Associate, plays a critical role. The primary responsibility of a Service Deli Associate is to assist customers in selecting and purchasing Food Service products, prepares a variety of food items, maintains cleanliness and hygiene standards, and participates in the efficient functioning of the department. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that customers have access to high-quality deli products and receive outstanding service. They contribute to the overall success of the department and the store as a whole by providing excellent customer experiences and maintaining a well-organized and hygienic workspace.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and operate deli equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a deli, food service, or customer service role is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Provide information about food products, including ingredients, preparation methods, and pricing.
  • Offer samples and suggestions to help customers make informed choices.
  • Slice, weigh, and package various deli meats, cheeses, and other products according to customer requests.
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads, and other deli items following established recipes and guidelines.
  • Maintain quality control standards to ensure the freshness and appeal of deli offerings.
  • Stay informed about the different types of deli products, their origins, and unique characteristics.
  • Be able to answer customer questions and provide recommendations based on customer preferences.
  • Maintain a clean and organized deli area, including display cases, slicers, counters, and equipment.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Regularly clean and sanitize workstations and equipment.
  • Monitor product levels and restock deli products as necessary.
  • Rotate products to ensure that older items are used before newer ones.
  • Assist in taking inventory and maintaining accurate records.
  • Label deli products with accurate prices and descriptions.
  • Ensure pricing is consistent with the store's pricing policies.
  • Update and change labels as needed.
  • Collaborate with other associates and store staff to maintain a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Assist with training new team members, when required.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
