About The Position

The primary purpose of the Food Service Assistant is to assist higher level personnel in preparation of food as well as cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen. Employees are responsible for accurate portioning of food as well as maintaining high sanitation standards in their assigned work areas. Employees may function as assistant to higher level employees in ordering food and supplies, etc. Work is reviewed by a higher level employee for adherence to sanitation standards and completion of assignments. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.

Requirements

Education and/or experience in food service that is directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
Physical strength to lift at least 20 pounds.
Engage in extensive walking and or standing in one place for prolonged lengths of time to complete work.
Good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Working knowledge of simple food preparation procedures.
Working knowledge of Food Safety and Sanitation techniques as outlined in the NC Food Code.
Basic technological knowledge and ability to operate a computer.
Proven ability to maintain professional, cooperative working relationships with employees and clients.
Proven ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Proven ability to complete department records as required.
