The Food Service Assistant is responsible for reading patient tray ticket orders, placing items on trays, and delivering/serving patient trays, snacks, and supplements. This role also involves assisting patients with opening items, collecting trays, operating the dish machine, performing cleaning tasks, and serving cafeteria customers. Additionally, the position requires operating a cash register, portioning food items, replenishing stock, taking food and equipment temperatures, cleaning work areas, and managing garbage and trash. Adherence to department safety and sanitation regulations, including the use of protective barriers, is essential. Excellent customer service skills are required, especially when delivering patient trays.
