About The Position

Classical Charter School is seeking a dedicated Food Service Assistant to join their team. This role involves ensuring student safety and well-being during meal times and recess, maintaining a clean and organized cafeteria environment, and supporting the school's mission and vision. The Food Service Assistant will foster a positive atmosphere, assist students with their needs, and collaborate with staff to create a supportive learning community.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse the classroom and the school.
  • Must be able to supervise outdoor recess.
  • Candidates are required to undergo a comprehensive background check, which includes reviewing criminal records and will require fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor students during lunch and recess to ensure their safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Enforce school rules and policies to maintain a respectful and orderly environment.
  • Address any behavioral issues promptly and report them to the appropriate school staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all students feel safe and respected.
  • Encourage positive social interactions among students and help mediate conflicts when necessary.
  • Assist students with any needs or issues that arise during breakfast, lunch and recess.
  • Ensure all playground and cafeteria areas are safe and free of hazards.
  • Provide basic first aid when necessary and report any injuries to school administration.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the setup and cleanup of the cafeteria before and after meal periods.
  • Encourage students to clean up after themselves and maintain cleanliness in eating and play areas.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the school administration.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Collaborate with other aides and school personnel to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.
  • Maintains a collegial, professional relationship with students, parents, and colleagues as a partner in the community of learners.
  • Assists staff and volunteers in inventory control.
