About The Position

The Food Service Assistant I position at the Oasis Cafe is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, with shifts potentially falling between 6:30 am and 7:00 pm. This role involves rotating weekends and holidays. The primary responsibilities include preparing and serving food, operating the cash register, and maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment. The assistant will work efficiently as a team member to ensure high customer satisfaction, assemble sandwiches and salads, potentially cook grilled items, heat soups, restock supplies, and respond to customer inquiries courteously. The role also includes preparing the cafe for opening and closing, cleaning equipment and areas, assisting with new employee orientation and training, and adhering to all HACCP policies and Endeavor Health standards.

Requirements

  • The ability to write, speak, and read in English.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in food service is desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • Sanitation Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and serves food and hot and cold beverages to customers in assigned area.
  • Assembles sandwiches and salads.
  • May cook grilled foods such as hamburgers or bacon.
  • May heat soups or other prepared foods.
  • Restocks supplies as necessary.
  • Replenishes napkins, silverware, condiments and other related consumables to ensure adequate supplies are available to the customers.
  • Operates cash register, charges appropriately for items, accepts cash and refunds change.
  • Counts and prepares daily cash receipt deposits.
  • Responds to customer questions and comments in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains clean and sanitary conditions in work area.
  • Cleans equipment, tables, counter tops, trays, and utensils.
  • Prepares café for opening and closing according to special task lists.
  • Ensures all surfaces, floors, food areas and eating areas are cleaned according to food and sanitation standards and hospital policy.
  • Assists in orientation and training of new employees.
  • Adheres to all HACCP policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all Endeavor Health standards, policies, and procedures.
