About The Position

The Food Server, under general supervision, obtains guest food and beverage orders. Responsible areas may include Banquets, 19 Steak & Seafood, Stadium Sports Bar & Grill, Out of Bounds, and any food venue created for the purpose of guest service. The Food Server ensures accurate and timely service of all orders by working with kitchen personnel, always exhibits a friendly and approachable demeanor, and is polite and courteous when speaking with guests and team members. This role is responsible for learning and being familiar with all of Boyd Gaming, Inc.’s room outlets, server functions, and for being able to answer general questions regarding the property. The server should anticipate the guest’s needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency and professionalism, and maintain knowledge of menu offerings to answer guest questions and provide suggestions, including food items, preparation methods, and wine knowledge. They must anticipate and provide for guests’ needs throughout entire functions, ensure guest satisfaction, and respond quickly and efficiently to guest complaints. The server will accurately account for and collect payment for all drink and food orders through the POS system in a timely manner. Duties include performing food preparation such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee. They may also perform tableside cooking, salad or entrée presentations, and open and pour wine tableside. Garnish and decorate dishes in preparation for serving, and serve food and beverages to guests, preparing or serving specialty dishes at tables as required. The server checks with guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and takes action to correct any problems, immediately notifying the manager on duty. They are responsible for all tables in their assigned section. This role involves stocking service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens, and filling salt, pepper, sugar, etc. The server assists with overall dining service and ensures dining and serving areas are set up and maintained according to standard, including the removal of all dirty dishes in FOH operations. They must maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, hours of operations, proper table set-up and dress code of the restaurant. The position participates in liquor glassware removal, ensuring compliance with all Indiana Gaming Commission regulations and abides by all State, State Gaming, Federal and Corporate liquor Regulations, also pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests. They observe and adhere to Health Department regulations and EcoSure standards regarding food handling, storage, and cleanliness of the work environment. Consistent attendance at company/restaurant training programs is required. The server completes opening, closing, and other side duties as assigned by supervisors and maintains a well-groomed, neat, and clean appearance. They possess the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers. All job functions are performed in conjunction with the guidelines described in the Standard Operating Procedures manual to ensure consistent execution of company and department standards. All duties are performed as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high volume restaurant.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • At least 1-year experience directly related to the accountabilities specified.
