About The Position

The Westin hotel is looking for AM and PM servers to provide guests with a 5-Star dining experience! Servers are responsible for taking orders and serving food and beverages to guests while ensuring top-notch customer service and professionalism. Cleans and sets up assigned tables the guests have departed. Must know menu prices, daily specials, all menu items (preparation, ingredients). Servers play a large role in creating a welcoming atmosphere and guest satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Courteous and attentive to guests.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, staying on your feet, climbing stairs, carrying heavyweights.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively by writing, telephone and personal meeting situations.
  • Must have an outgoing, pleasant personality.
  • Must be neat in appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and Holidays.
  • Must be honest and work well with others.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment.
  • Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer or micros machine.
  • Must speak in a clear, understandable voice and hear at a basic level, and understand English.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a server is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order.
  • Attend to customers upon entrance to the restaurant.
  • Present menus and be knowledgeable of menu contents, recipes, and restaurant offerings.
  • Serve and assist customers with selecting food/beverages as needed.
  • Verify guest’s identification to ensure they meet age requirements for alcohol consumption.
  • Have basic knowledge of menu prices, composition of items, preparation techniques, and time of preparation.
  • Must be familiar with daily specials and offers to guests.
  • Make suggestions based on guest preferences.
  • Take and serve food/drinks orders.
  • Arrange table settings.
  • Keep tables clean and tidy at all times.
  • Deliver checks and collect payments.
  • Return to each table periodically to ascertain whether additional items are desired.
  • Cooperate and communicate with all serving and kitchen staff.
  • Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines.
  • Dress in appropriate event staff uniform at all times, while also maintaining professional appearance.
  • Refill condiments and server station supplies at end of each shift.
  • May require performing other shift closing tasks to be determined by Director of Food & Beverage.
  • Adhere to all Health Department rules and regulations and brand standards.
  • Must be responsible for security of guests, fellow employees and hotel assets.
  • Must have completed required brand training program.
  • Must perform any other required duties as requested by the General Manager to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests.
  • Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc.
  • Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision.

Benefits

  • AM Server - $6/hr + tip
  • PM Server - $2.50/hr + tips
  • Experienced servers typically make $15+ hourly
