The Food Server, under general supervision, obtains guest food and beverage orders. Responsible areas may include Banquets, 19 Steak & Seafood, Stadium Sports Bar & Grill, Out of Bounds, and any food venue created for the purpose of guest service. The Food Server ensures accurate and timely service of all orders by working with kitchen personnel, always exhibits a friendly and approachable demeanor, and is polite and courteous when speaking with guests and team members. The role is responsible for learning and being familiar with all of Boyd Gaming, Inc.’s room outlets, server functions, and for being able to answer general questions regarding the property. The server must anticipate the guest’s needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency and professionalism, maintain knowledge of menu offerings to answer guest questions and provide suggestions (including food items, preparation methods, and wine knowledge), and anticipate and provide for guests’ needs throughout entire functions, ensuring guest satisfaction and responding quickly and efficiently to guest complaints. The server will accurately account for and collect payment for all drink and food orders through the POS system in a timely manner. Responsibilities include performing food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts and brewing coffee; performing tableside cooking, salad or entrée presentations, and opening and pouring wine tableside; garnishing and decorating dishes in preparation for serving; serving food and beverages to guests, and preparing or serving specialty dishes at tables as required; checking with guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and taking action to correct any problems, immediately notifying the manager on duty; being responsible for all tables in the assigned section in their entirety; stocking service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens; filling salt, pepper, sugar, etc.; assisting with overall dining service and ensuring dining and serving areas are set up and maintained according to standard, including removal of all dirty dishes in FOH operations; maintaining complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, hours of operations, proper table set-up and dress code of the restaurant; participating in liquor glassware removal, ensuring compliance with all Indiana Gaming Commission regulations; abiding by all State, State Gaming, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations, also pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests; observing and adhering to Health Department regulations and EcoSure standards regarding food handling, storage, and cleanliness of work environment; and consistent attendance at company/restaurant training programs as scheduled. The role also includes completing opening, closing, and other side duties as assigned by supervisors, maintaining a well-groomed, neat and clean appearance, possessing the resiliency to deal with difficult guests in all types of business conditions, and the ability to work harmoniously with coworkers. All job functions are to be performed in conjunction with the guidelines described in the Standard Operating Procedures manual to ensure consistent execution of company and department standards, and all duties as assigned by management.
