Requirements

  • BS degree in Food Science or related degree field or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years of Quality Control experience in the food industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years Management/Supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of SQF, USDA FDA requirements.
  • Experience implementing HACCP principles and FSMA rules including preventive controls.
  • SPC (Statistical Process Control) and data analyses skills.
  • Personal computer skills (Microsoft Word & Excel, Network)
  • Attention to precision and detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with all divisions and levels of employees.
  • Possess problem solving strengths.
  • Able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • HACCP, SQF and PCQI certificates or ability to obtain within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure company and customer specifications for food safety and quality are met.
  • Assist production team with solving food safety and quality issues in all production areas.
  • Complete food safety and quality sign-offs in Redzone compliance system.
  • Maintain and update food safety and quality datasheets in Redzone.
  • Responsible for training of Quality team members in essential duties.
  • Assist in maintaining CAPA process; assign internal CAPA requests and verifies completion.
  • Work closely with other departments to provide guidance and support in development of new policies and procedures to ensure food safety and quality standards are being met.
  • Monitor GMP’s in all production areas to ensure food safety and quality products. Ensure corrective actions are implemented when infractions occur.
  • Maintain SQF program, including verification and validation activities to remain compliant to SQF standards.
  • Supports other food safety and production functions as needed.
  • Back up for Quality Lead and Auditor positions, as well as other micro back up duties as needed.
  • Manage raw material and purchased goods auditing program.
  • Support Supplier CAR (Corrective Action Request) program as appropriate.
  • Review customer complaints, investigate, and respond as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Sr Plant Quality Manager to establish quality KPI’s.
  • Manages the receipt and shipment of sample parts to/from suppliers, including samples of new/revised product and non-conforming product.
  • Participate in SQF, FDA, Military and Customer audits as requested.
  • Execute assigned food safety, quality and continuous improvement activities to support SQF Code, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Professionally represent EA Sween to suppliers, industry and government professionals including but not limited to FDA, USDA, MDA, Military and SQF Auditors.
  • Responsible for building an effective Quality team. Responsibilities include hiring, feedback, recognition and performance management.
  • Develop and maintain accurate job descriptions and performance standards for direct reports.
  • Ensure direct reports have the proper education and training to meet the requirements of their position. Provide coaching and any disciplinary action as needed.
  • Assist each direct report with development of their personal professional goals.
  • Provide leadership support to the Food Safety & Quality department in the absence of the Sr Plant Quality Manager.
  • Support and demonstrate the EA Sween spirit and values.
  • Works safely and wears appropriate PPE and attire.
  • Complete mandatory EA Sween Company training sessions; attend external training sessions as needed.
  • Report hazardous conditions to the Sr Plant Quality Manager.
  • Cooperate with all aspects of the safety program at EA Sween Company.
  • Perform all activities in accordance with company safety policies.
  • Attend classes/seminars/webinars to maintain qualifications for the Food Safety & Quality Supervisor position.
  • Review the salary of each direct report on an annual basis.
  • Conduct performance reviews with each direct report at a minimum of twice per year.
  • Represent department and Company to the public, industry and government in a professional manner.
  • Participate in process improvement Kaizen or similar events.
