About The Position

This position is in Cargill's Food Enterprise, which is committed to serving food manufacturers, food service customers, and retailers with a complete range of innovative ingredients and branded products. The Food Safety Quality Chemist will ensure that products meet or exceed customer requirements for quality and food safety and develop an in-depth understanding of specific systems. In this role, you will ensure customer satisfaction, minimization of process variation, process recovery realization, waste reduction, cost minimization, and the ability to act as a specialist backup. In addition, this role involves partnering with cross-functional teams to strengthen compliance, quality systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience

  • Experience with analytical testing methods and preparation of solutions (e.g., moisture, pH and titration.)
  • Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (SAP) and quality documentation tools.

  • Strong problem-solving and investigative skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and large projects while working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in a food or feed manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer audits, initiatives and follow ups.
  • Approve final production and assurance of compliance to customer specifications.
  • Maintain and coordinate the chemist technician partnership and training systems.
  • Provide process improvement support, specialized testing, training, audit systems, analyze data, identify trends, troubleshoot, corrective action and communication regarding processing data and final product.
  • Assess quality parameters and systems including cross checks, raw materials, calibration, maintenance, procedures, food safety, training, auditing and oversight of analytical testing performed in control rooms.
  • Support process trials, validations, and change management activities impacting product safety or quality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, specifications, testing records, and certifications in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
