About The Position

This role is responsible for testing finished products and recording the results, reporting any deviations from company standards or governmental regulations to management. Adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is mandatory. The technician will also test incoming raw materials, maintain QA records, and act as a resource for the production team on food safety and quality matters. Additionally, the role involves tagging non-standard batches, coordinating product sample requests, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Food Safety Manager.

Requirements

  • Two years experience in a food manufacturing plant
  • Knowledge of process quality control
  • Proficient with record maintenance
  • Proficient in math
  • Computer skills required - Excel/Word/Outlook
  • Must be able to handle several tasks at one time and correctly prioritize conflicting, time-sensitive tasks
  • Ability to work overtime without prior notice
  • Ability to focus on tasks at hand

Nice To Haves

  • Metal detector hands-on experience is preferred
  • Person should be a self-motivator, able to keep busy within their job scope
  • Person will need to have some flexibility to adjust schedule to accommodate coverage if need on other shifts.
  • Bi-Lingual a plus but not required
  • AA Degree preferred, not required.
  • Quality Certification(s) and training beneficial (HACCP, SQF, etc.)
  • Experience working in food is helpful, working with fresh produce is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Testing the finished product and recording the results.
  • Reporting all deviations to management, including any deviations from company standards or governmental regulations.
  • Obtaining samples and testing daily, finished products for compliance with the product specifications and recording all results.
  • Auditing and monitoring compliance to GMP standards and recording and reporting all deviations to the Food Safety/Quality Assurance Management.
  • Being a resource to production team members on food safety and quality issues.
  • Tagging non-standard batches assuring product does not leave the plant and reporting this product to management.
  • Testing incoming raw materials according to Q.A. work instructions.
  • Coordinating and making product samples as requested by Food Safety/Quality Management.
  • Maintaining Quality Assurance (QA) records as requested by the Food Safety Manager.
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by the Food Safety Manager.
