About The Position

The Food Safety/Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for testing finished products and recording the results. This role involves reporting any deviations from company standards or governmental regulations to management and ensuring Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are consistently followed. The technician will also audit and monitor compliance with GMP standards, act as a resource for the production team on food safety and quality matters, and manage non-standard product batches. Additionally, the role includes testing incoming raw materials, coordinating product sample requests, maintaining QA records, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Food Safety Manager.

Requirements

Two years experience in a food manufacturing plant
Knowledge of process quality control
Proficient with record maintenance
Proficient in math
Computer skills required - Excel/Word/Outlook
Must be able to handle several tasks at one time and correctly prioritize conflicting, time-sensitive tasks
Ability to work overtime without prior notice
Ability to focus on tasks at hand

Nice To Haves

Metal detector hands-on experience is preferred
Person should be a self-motivator , able to keep busy within their job scope
Person will need to have some flexibility to adjust schedule to accommodate coverage if need on other shifts. (i.e. other team members calls outs sick, vacations, fill an open shift if team member leaves permanently. etc…)
Bi-Lingual a plus but not required
AA Degree preferred, not required.
Quality Certification(s) and training beneficial (HACCP, SQF, etc.)
Experience working in food is helpful, working with fresh produce is preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for testing the finished product and recording the results of this testing.
Responsible for reporting all deviations to management which include any deviations from company standards or governmental regulations.
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) must be always followed.
Obtain samples and test daily, finished products for compliance with the product specifications and record all results.
Audit and monitor the compliance to the GMP standards and record and report all deviations to the Food Safety/Quality Assurance Management
Be a resource to production team members on food safety and quality issues
Tag non-standard batches assuring product does not leave the plant and report this product to management
Test incoming raw materials according to Q.A. work instructions
Coordinate and make product samples as requested by Food Safety/Quality Management
Maintain Quality Assurance (QA) records as requested by the Food Safety Manager
Other tasks as assigned by the Food Safety Manager.
