About The Position

This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to promote a strong food safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and lead the daily activities of the FSQA team. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining food safety and quality programs that ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and company standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline, plus 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of a Farm Boy approved Food Safety course.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and quality management systems and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business systems.
  • Comfortable working in a plant environment that involves multiple deadlines, extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, repetitive tasks, frequent use of protective equipment, and work that may be performed in colder environments, with flexible availability including evenings, overnight, and weekends as required.
  • Fluency in English

Responsibilities

  • Assist with leading, coaching, and developing the FSQA team, including: workforce planning, training, performance management, and employee development.
  • Support the communication and execution of departmental goals and key business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production, sanitation, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with food safety and quality programs.
  • Monitor food safety and quality performance, analyze trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and validate food safety and quality documentation to support operational compliance and audit readiness.
  • Identify documentation gaps and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support and maintain third-party certification programs and food safety management systems.
  • Lead internal and external audit activities, including: preparation, execution, and follow-up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate facility response activities related to food safety incidents, product recalls, and withdrawals.
  • Track, analyze, and report food safety and quality metrics to support business performance and compliance objectives.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and projects to support operational and food safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to overall operational success by taking on additional responsibilities as required.
