About The Position

Butterball, LLC, a well-known turkey brand, is offering a summer internship opportunity in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. This 10-12 week internship will take place at their processing plant in Huntsville, Arkansas. The quality assurance team plays a crucial role in overseeing food production processes to maintain consumer trust and comply with USDA food safety regulations. The program aims to develop future leaders through professional development and assignments aligned with interests in the processing and manufacturing industry.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Safety, biological sciences, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill with Excel formulas for data extraction, organization, and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills.
  • Computer skills including Excel, Word, Visio, Teams, Power BI, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (cold, hot, wet).
  • Ability to lift up to 50-75 lbs to move turkeys and product as required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with FSQA and Operations to validate antimicrobial intervention efficacy.
  • Continuously improve quality related parameters.
  • Identify additional process improvements.
  • Perform data collection and trend quality metrics.
  • Communicate results of data collection and trend analysis.
  • Work with FSQA and Operations teams to ensure sample collection.
  • Work with Laboratory staff to understand sampling and analysis process.
  • Record and report data and results.
  • Support various teams to ensure manufacturing processes are consistent, compliant, and adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP) requirements.
