About The Position

The role of the Food Runner is to maintain food flow and service from food line to customer. This function is essential for ensuring hot food from the kitchen is immediately served to guests in the dining room, maintaining proper plate presentations, and ensuring a consistent flow of food in a healthy and sanitary manner from kitchen to guest. The Food Runner also assists with expediting food orders during slow periods and acts as a role model to other employees.

Requirements

  • At least 6 months’ kitchen experience in a high-volume establishment
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation
  • Ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team member
  • Ability to present a well-groomed appearance
  • Ability to have a sense of urgency and react to changing business demands
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business
  • Ability to maneuver all areas of assigned restaurant throughout entire shift
  • Ability to lift trays and bus tubs with heavy items at shoulder level
  • Ability to clean tables in a timely fashion
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and be able to reach across tables
  • Ability to push or pull 300 lbs. on a cart or dolly
  • Ability to stoop and bend as necessary
  • Ability to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and in stressful situations
  • Ability to respond to visual and aural cues
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Providing quality food and service to Harrah’s guests
  • Ensuring hot food from the kitchen is immediately served to guests in the dining room
  • Ensuring all plate presentations are within the guidelines/portion/condiments including appropriate plate ware, set by our culinary team
  • Prioritizing hot food (in the kitchen window) that is waiting to be served to guests
  • Greeting and serving meals to customers while ensuring a pleasant dining experience
  • Being familiar with all the steps of service that servers provide when serving food to guests
  • Observing all sanitary and safety requirements
  • Maintaining a high level of cleanliness, proper presentation and temperature of food
  • Ensuring consistent flow of food in a healthy and sanitary manner from kitchen to guest
  • Adhering to regulatory departmental and company policies
  • Assisting with expediting food orders coming out of the kitchen whenever necessary during slow periods
  • Acting as a role model to other employees and presenting oneself as a credit to Harrah’s
