The beautiful Shangri-La Resort, located at the tip of Monkey Island in the center of northeast Oklahoma's Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, is currently taking applications for seasonal workers. JOB OVERVIEW : Under the direct supervision of the Restaurant Manager, the Food Runner maintains efficient, courteous food and beverage operations by greeting guests, anticipating guests' needs, and providing knowledgeable food and beverage service. They provide consistent professional guest relations with a positive upbeat personality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Related experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit and Able Liquor License.
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Must be able to maintain professional status through interface with customers, management, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including but not limited to extended hours, irregular shifts, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk for extended periods; carry large serving trays with heavy items; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift more than 25lbs.
  • Physical stamina and a proper mental attitude to work under pressure at a fast pace are essential.
  • Must have the mental fortitude to handle the pressures of multiple tasks while providing excellent guest service.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet clients and staff while creating an inviting guest experience.
  • Runners are responsible for all opening and closing duties. These tasks should be completed as a team.
  • Continues to enhance education on drinks offered.
  • Ability to work efficiently while providing expedient service.
  • Presents menus, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service to patrons.
  • Possesses a strong knowledge of food, spirits, wine, champagne and cocktails.
  • Adheres to all Oklahoma liquor laws and companies' internal controls.
  • Monitors guests to ensure that they are not intoxicated, and proper procedures are followed if intoxication is observed.
  • Delivers a positive and efficient dining experience for guests.
  • Provides tray service; large and small trays when needed.
  • Take orders and prepare non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire work area.
  • Responsible for notifying the management team if any member or guest has concerns or opportunities.
  • Polishes and stocks silverware, glassware, product etc., and prepares for use.
  • Complete side work assigned by manager.
  • Assists in the daily operation of the restaurant in an efficient, cost-effective and labor-effective manner.
  • Contributes to the training of new team members.
  • Serve guests in a responsive, caring, prompt, and courteous manner.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of service.
  • Travel between Shangri-La properties may be needed.
  • Always maintaining professional appearance, etiquette, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Be adaptable with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
  • Runners are required to stand for long periods of time and will often carry heavy items on a large serving tray.
  • Always check for changes in schedules. As well as checking in with Supervisors/Manager prior to leaving for the day/night.
  • Guests are to be escorted to the nearest restroom or any other area for their convenience.
  • Weave the room checking each table for any drinks that may need refills as well as clearing of the tables.
  • Assist servers, bussers, and other runners.
