About The Position

The Food Runner plays a key role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere at the Duquesne Club. Each interaction with members and guests is conducted with professionalism, friendliness, and attentiveness to ensure a memorable experience. The Food Runner is an integral part of the dining experience at the Duquesne Club. This position supports the service team by efficiently retrieving and delivering food items from the kitchen to the dining areas, ensuring accuracy and presentation standards are maintained. The Food Runner works collaboratively with the service team to provide seamless and exceptional service to Club members and their guests. We are looking for AM and PM Food Runners.

Requirements

  • Strength to carry trays weighing up to 25 lbs. at shoulder height or manually pushing a cart up to 75lbs.
  • Proficiency in timing to ensure course are delivered according to standard and paired with appropriate condiments.
  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity and excellent coordination to handle service equipment effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret food orders from pre-printed form, and mentally organize a system of assembling food from various stations to complete order.
  • Strong verbal communication and active listening skills to respond effectively to guests’ requests.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Self-motivation to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Knowledge of fine dining procedures, etiquette, social customs, POS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, attentive service to members and guests in accordance with the Club’s service standards.
  • Report to designated dining room and see manager for work assignment.
  • Collect food orders from kitchen stations using the “Point of Sale” chit system, including condiments and serving supplies.
  • Inspect dishes for accuracy and presentation before delivery.
  • Assemble orders on trays following a FIFO (First In, First Out) system and deliver them to servers via stairs, elevator, or dumbwaiter.
  • Unload dumbwaiter trays and organize them on the Queen Mary Trucks for Dish Pantry.
  • Return food items and supplies to proper locations at the end of the shift.
  • Follow all Club’s policies and procedures.
  • Follow all safety procedures and emergency protocols established by the Club, state, and Allegheny County.
  • Adhere to OSHA standards in regard to “Right to Know” for handling and disposal of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
  • Sanitize workstations thoroughly using approved cleaning agents throughout the shift.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves during cleaning tasks or food handling.
  • Communicate any issues or service challenges to the A la Carte Captain or management promptly.
  • Follow the Club’s workers' compensation guidelines and report injuries or hazards to the supervisor or Human Resources.
  • Maintain professional grooming and hygiene in accordance with Club policies. Wear a clean and pressed uniform.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Be respectful of other employees and help out when needed. Teamwork is important—together everyone achieves more.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
