About The Position

The Food Runner is a part-time team member responsible for delivering all food menu items and accurately describing them to guests. This role acts as a liaison between servers and chefs, interacting with guests, team members, and supervisors in a polite, courteous, and hospitable manner to ensure an exemplary experience. The position requires anticipating and accommodating guest needs, providing professional and exceptional service, and performing table maintenance and bussing of excess tableware. Maintaining general cleanliness of venue areas, possessing in-depth knowledge of food menus, venue, and company, and understanding beverage menus and ingredients (especially concerning allergies) are crucial. The Food Runner must comply with Department of Health standards, communicate guest needs effectively, and properly set up their station, perform side-work, and opening/closing procedures. This includes stocking stations, performing prescribed opening and closing side-work, and immediately reporting any breakage or damage to management. The role also involves attending daily pre-service meetings and training sessions, learning through observation and sharing knowledge, and portraying a positive and professional attitude. Demonstrating knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments, working collaboratively with team members, and assisting with additional tasks as assigned are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate.
  • Must have good positive energy throughout the day.
  • Must be able to print legibly for Team Members, management, and guests to read.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move quickly.
  • Must be able to push and lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke, the severity of which depends upon the guest volume.
  • May work extended hours irregular shifts, evening and/or weekend shifts, and holiday work may be required.
  • Exposure to cleaning materials.
  • Office, Casino, Nightclub, Bar, Lounge, and/or Restaurant working environment.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company standards.
  • Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospitality experience, preferred.
  • Previous food running experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant/nightclub/lounge, preferred.
  • Tao Group Hospitality in-venue food runner training

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and accommodate all needs of the guests.
  • Provides professional and exceptional service.
  • Delivers and describes all food items to the guests, in a timely manner.
  • Performs table maintenance and bussing of excess tableware.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of all venue areas throughout service.
  • Follow supervisor’s instructions, communicate with and support co-workers, and be a team player.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of all food menus, venue, and the company.
  • Possess general knowledge of all beverage menus.
  • Knowledge of all ingredients used in food items as it pertains to allergies.
  • Complies with Department of Health standards.
  • Communicates the needs of the guests to Front-of-House and Heart-of-House support staff, managers, and chefs.
  • Properly sets-up runner’s station, performs side-work and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management.
  • Stocks station with prescribed items and supplies.
  • Performs opening side-work as prescribed.
  • Performs closing side-work as prescribed.
  • Reports all breakage, and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management.
  • Attends and participates in daily pre-service meetings.
  • Attends and participates in any training sessions or departmental meetings.
  • Learn by listening, observing other team members, and sharing knowledge while leading by example.
  • Portrays a positive and professional attitude.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments.
  • Works as part of a team and provides help and support to all fellow team members.
  • Assist and/or complete additional tasks as assigned.
