About The Position

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Food Program Representative to join our team.   The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods.   As a Food Program Representative, you will be responsible for bringing meals to life across Before and After School Child Care locations, Early Learning Centers, and Summer Day Camps. This role blends creativity and organization, planning, developing, and running a food program that keeps kids happy, healthy, and energized.   If hired, you will create nutritious menus to making sure snacks are served just right. the Food Program Representative supports and trains site staff every step of the way. Behind the scenes, they also keep a close eye on food inventory and handle grant reporting to keep everything running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years related experience that includes supervision, fiscal management, program development, staff and/or volunteer development (preferred).  
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Outlook and Word).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, organizational skills, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and file maintenance.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage menu, snack ordering and snack sorting for all approved inventory supplies in a timely manner to ensure sites receive all necessary supplies and curriculum for certain programs.
  • Assure snack meets licensing standards for portion sizes and nutrition requirements and does not contain substances that could cause allergic reactions in children.
  • Tracks program deliverables and navigates audits as needed.
  • Manage grants (YUSA and other) associated with responsible programs with accurate and complete record keeping.
  • Manage food reimbursement program to include initiating claims, conducting reviews, training staff on audit process and maintaining program records to ensure compliance
  • Create & present in-person trainings for all staff at Back-to-School Rally, Summer Camp Kickoff & ELC staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
