About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director/Program Supervisor, the Food Prep Coordinator will maintain all aspects of the King’s Early Learning Center food prep needs which include, snack menu planning, snack meal planning, lunch preparation and serving to the classrooms. Track inventory, order, and purchase supplies if needed. Oversee that the food prep area and related supply areas are kept clean and in order. Provide knowledge about State licensing regulations related to food preparation as well as additional safety and food safety regulations from the Food Handlers. Work and collaborate with the Program Supervisor to plan nutritious monthly snack menus that comply with licensing and encourage learning.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with young children.
  • Must have current food handler’s permit or be willing to obtain upon hire.
  • Must have positive, patient, child-centered temperament.
  • Must display a positive professional attitude.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a busy, open setting.
  • Must be able to work alongside teachers and staff as part of a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and students.

Nice To Haves

  • College credits or degree in Early Childhood education.
  • Experience working in a State licensed childcare facility.
  • Must have the following, or be willing to obtain upon hire: Washington State required 20-hour basic training or show proof of a waiver. Child/infant CPR and first aid. HIV and blood borne pathogen training. Proof of negative Tb skin test. Other certifications as deemed necessary by the state for work in a licensed Early Learning and Early Education facility.

Responsibilities

  • Track food and supplies, monitor usage and arrange for replenishment as necessary.
  • Perform all duties related to serving lunch and snacks.
  • This will include, but is not limited to: Maintaining food temperatures serving lunch and snacks.
  • This will include but is not limited to: World Concern CRISTA staff and prepare safe and healthy food according to the children’s needs.
  • Plan and Prepare snacks.
  • Manage portions.
  • Deliver food to classrooms.
  • Clean and sanitize.
  • Coordinate class cooking projects, field trip food and snack requirements with the Assistant Director and Teachers.
  • Ensure kitchen and storage areas are clean and well organized.
  • Maintain cleanliness of staff lounge kitchen area and refrigerator.
  • Check and document refrigerator and freezer temperatures for kitchen, staff lounge, and classrooms.
  • Replenish teacher lounge supplies weekly.
  • Attend and participate in meetings, staff events and job-related workshops and classes.
  • Provide support for the classrooms and the office that helps to ensure King’s quality and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
