About The Position
GA Foods is seeking to hire a Food Prep Cook for our Saint Petersburg, location. The Food Prep Cook is responsible for preparing food for daily distribution by following pre-defined recipes and menus, while meeting time-sensitive requirements and adhering to food safety standards and specifications at our St. Petersburg location. This role includes packing and portioning food according to menu specifications, assisting with clean-up, storage, required recordkeeping, and performing other duties as assigned. Requirements
- Some industrial cooking experience preferred
- Ability to operate equipment such as meat slicers, steam kettles, convection ovens, warmers, pallet jacks, and similar equipment
- Ability to follow written recipes and cooking/packaging instructions accurately
- Must be able to meet the employer’s attendance standards
- Ability to portion and pack products to precise quantities and counts
- Ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds repeatedly on a regular basis throughout the shift
- Required to work a full-time scheduled shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, or until production is complete
Responsibilities
- Prepare meals under the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor or Unit Management for distribution, following standardized recipes and portion controls
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and temperature control protocols
- Assist with cleaning the kitchen, packing area, and other areas as directed
- Perform general utility duties as assigned
- Prepare meats, sauces, casseroles, desserts, and gravies
- Operate meat slicers for slicing meat products
- Complete and maintain required paperwork and records
- Assist with facility sanitation and housekeeping
- Pack food products and components accurately according to menu specifications
- Participate in all required company training, including but not limited to HACCP, GMP requirements, and ServSafe certification
- Provide support to Packing and Sanitation staff
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
