About The Position

Greensboro Urban Ministry is seeking a part-time Food Pantry Warehouse Assistant to support all operations of the warehouse, including the handling of food donations. This role involves receiving, weighing, recording, and rotating inventory, as well as assisting with pickups and deliveries. The position requires accurate documentation, temperature monitoring, and assisting donors. The assistant will also help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and may assist in the Food Pantry as needed. A positive and compassionate attitude is essential when interacting with volunteers, employees, and clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Knowledge of trucks and all warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to lift 65 pounds or more.
  • Standing, carrying, climbing, reaching, sitting, walking, push/pull, driving, bending, hearing, writing, reading, and planning.
  • Must be able to work on high ladders.
  • Must be able to use hydraulic equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate a 26-foot box truck is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all procedures and instructions related to pickups and deliveries.
  • Receive, weigh, and accurately record all incoming donations.
  • Maintain inventory records for incoming and outgoing food by weight.
  • Rotate food inventory using the First In, First Out (FIFO) method.
  • Ensure all required forms are completed accurately and submitted to the Director of the Food Pantry.
  • Assist the Truck Driver and Warehouse Supervisor with pickups and delivery of food, boxes, and other items.
  • Monitor and accurately record refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
  • Assist donors with unloading and receiving donations.
  • Break down cardboard boxes for recycling as needed.
  • Assist in the Food Pantry as needed.
  • Treat all volunteers, employees, and clients with respect, sincerity, and compassion.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude when interacting with volunteers, donors, clients, and coworkers.
  • Assist in supervising and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
