About The Position

Nestled in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a center of excellence in providing a continuum of care. This includes the Frank Residences, offering luxurious assisted living and memory care services; the Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center, featuring long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, and an acute psychiatric unit specialized in mental healthcare for older adults over age 55; and the Jewish Home and Senior Living Foundation. As a Food & Nutrition Service Worker, you will perform routine kitchen and dishroom tasks to support meal preparation, tray assembly, and general cleanliness in resident dining and kitchen areas. Your work will help ensure timely, sanitary food service and contribute to a safe, welcoming environment for residents and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with residents and visitors.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic math skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a friendly and efficient attitude toward residents, coworkers, and customers.
  • Set up and organize assigned workstations in the kitchen or dishroom.
  • Prepare, portion, assemble, and label food items for trayline service.
  • Work in the dishroom by scraping trays, loading/unloading dish machines, and sorting silverware as needed.
  • Clean tables, counters, kitchen equipment, and mop floors to maintain sanitation standards.
  • Assist with catered events when required.
  • Adhere strictly to all sanitation procedures and dispose of trash properly.
  • Follow established safety and training protocols, complying with OSHA and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Understand and apply knowledge relevant to the specific needs of the elderly resident population.
  • Maintain compliance with operational standards and complete required records and reports for government and accreditation compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen and dining operations.
