About The Position

This role is responsible for preparing, portioning, and serving food according to hospital recipes, menus, and dietary requirements. The worker will assemble patient meal trays accurately and deliver them to patient units, ensuring adherence to special diet orders, including modified diets, allergies, and texture restrictions. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment by washing and sanitizing equipment, utensils, and work areas, proper food storage, and temperature checks. The position requires following hospital infection-control, food-safety, and sanitation procedures, stocking supplies, and collecting used dishes. Collaboration with cooks and other kitchen staff, professional communication with patients and hospital employees, and adherence to workplace safety procedures are essential. Additional duties may include deep cleaning, utility tasks, dishwashing, and tray delivery/retrieval as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (Equivalent)
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift and move food-service supplies
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, portion, and serve food according to hospital recipes, menus, and dietary requirements.
  • Assemble patient meal trays accurately and deliver them to patient units.
  • Follow special diet orders, including modified diets, allergies, and texture restrictions.
  • Wash, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, work areas, and food-service carts.
  • Store food properly and check food temperatures to maintain safety and quality.
  • Follow hospital infection-control, food-safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Stock food, supplies, trays, and kitchen materials as needed.
  • Collect and wash used trays, dishes, and utensils.
  • Assist cooks and other kitchen staff with food preparation and cleaning.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, nurses, dietary staff, and other hospital employees.
  • Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Food Service Supervisor or Manager including deep cleaning, utility, dishwashing, delivering Patient Trays and retrieving Patient trays.
