About The Position

Give Kids The World Village is an 89 acre, whimsical nonprofit resort in Central Florida that provides critically ill children and their families with a magical week long wish vacation at no cost. Amidst snoring trees, enchanting castles and the world’s largest game of Candy Land, Give Kids The World creates life changing moments that lift spirits, renew hope and inspire belief in the impossible. We believe that each member of our team has the ability to help create the perfect storybook experience for the special families we host at our magical Village. This internship will give you an opportunity to have meaningful learning experiences while supporting department goals and gaining real world exposure to the hospitality/nonprofit industry.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast paced food service environment with prolonged standing and hands on product handling.
  • Strong attention to detail, customer service, and organization.
  • Professional, guest focused demeanor when interacting with families, volunteers, and staff.
  • Must pass required background screening per organizational policy.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills ensuring courtesy, efficiency, and detailed follow through.
  • Creative problem solving skills.

  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university, pursuing a degree, and taking at least one class at the time of application.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through (and cross-train in) all Food & Beverage positions across the Village—including cafeteria and other outlets—covering both front-of-house and back-of-house functions.
  • Support back-of-house operations at multiple responsibility levels, including basic prep, dishwashing/sanitation, stocking, and assisting cooks as assigned.
  • Deliver warm, guest-focused service by interacting daily with families and volunteers, answering questions, and helping create a positive dining experience.
  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries, labeling/date marking, FIFO stock rotation, par-level replenishment, and supporting ordering processes.
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards (e.g., proper handwashing, glove use, temperature awareness, and cleaning schedules) and report any concerns to leadership.
  • Assist with opening/closing duties and daily side work, including setting up service areas, replenishing stations, and ensuring spaces remain clean, organized, and guest-ready.
  • Observe workflows and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, communication, and guest experience; document learnings and complete special projects as assigned.
