About The Position

The Whitford is a brand-new luxury Senior Living community opening in September 2026 in Dublin, California. Offering Assisted Living and Memory Care, The Whitford is designed to redefine senior living through exceptional hospitality, personalized care, and meaningful connections. Managed by Momentum Senior Living, The Whitford offers the unique opportunity to join a founding leadership team and create an exceptional culinary and dining experience from the ground up. We are seeking an experienced, hospitality-driven Food & Beverage Director to lead all dining operations while delivering restaurant-quality service, outstanding resident satisfaction, and exceptional culinary experiences. The Food & Beverage Director is responsible for overseeing all dining services operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house service, resident dining experiences, food service staff, budgeting, purchasing, sanitation, and regulatory compliance. This leadership role ensures the highest standards of food quality, hospitality, service excellence, and operational efficiency while creating a welcoming dining environment that enhances residents' quality of life. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, Executive Chef, Health & Wellness, and other department leaders, the Food & Beverage Director helps create memorable dining experiences that reflect the luxury lifestyle and personalized service The Whitford is committed to providing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in food and beverage operations within casual, upscale, fine dining, hospitality, healthcare, or senior living environments.
  • Current ServSafe® Certification required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, kneel, crouch, and actively participate in dining operations.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently.
  • Ability to transport trays, supplies, equipment, and inventory as needed.
  • Ability to work in kitchen environments with exposure to heat, sharp equipment, wet floors, and other food service conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Experience overseeing both front-of-house and back-of-house dining operations preferred.
  • Previous experience in senior living is highly desirable.
  • experience with dining management or inventory systems is a plus.
  • Passion for hospitality and enhancing the lives of older adults through exceptional dining experiences.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays to support dining services and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily operations of all dining venues, ensuring exceptional service and resident satisfaction.
  • Oversee front-of-house dining services, including table service, buffet service, special events, and private dining experiences.
  • Ensure dining rooms, lounges, and service areas are clean, organized, welcoming, and fully prepared for each meal service.
  • Promote a culture of hospitality by delivering restaurant-quality service and creating memorable dining experiences for residents and guests.
  • Respond promptly to resident feedback and continuously seek opportunities to enhance the dining experience.
  • Partner with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, portion control, and service.
  • Oversee food preparation and service operations to ensure meals are delivered safely, efficiently, and according to established standards.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and infection control procedures are consistently followed.
  • Support menu implementation, special dining events, holiday celebrations, and resident culinary experiences.
  • Recruit, supervise, schedule, coach, and develop dining services team members.
  • Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture centered on hospitality, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, ongoing training, and employee development.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to support daily dining operations and special events.
  • Manage departmental budgets while maintaining exceptional service and quality standards.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory management, vendor relationships, and dining room supplies.
  • Monitor food, labor, and operating costs while identifying opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Implement operational improvements that enhance service quality and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety regulations and senior living requirements.
  • Maintain ServSafe® standards and ensure all sanitation practices meet regulatory guidelines.
  • Oversee cleanliness and organization of dining rooms, kitchens, storage areas, and equipment.
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled.
