About The Position

Up Health System- Portage, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Food & Nutritional Services Coordinator. This role involves maintaining policies and procedures for the department, ensuring equipment operation and maintenance, and upholding clinical practice standards consistent with food service regulations. The coordinator is responsible for quality control logs, may assist with staff scheduling and timekeeping, and handles various administrative tasks such as composing correspondence, managing calendars, and maintaining files. Additionally, the role requires assisting the Director with food ordering and supply stocking, acting as a resource for staff, and understanding the job descriptions of Food Service Staff. A key responsibility includes the capability to fill in for absent staff in food preparation, distribution, storage, and sanitation, including roles like call office, delivery host, cook, cafe, or prep.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Six months food service experience preferred.
  • Ability to be ServSafe Certified within 6 months of hire. Also must re-certify every 3 years.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • In cooperation with the Director of Food Service or in the absence of, maintains all policies and procedures for department, equipment operation/maintenance, and clinical practice consistent with food service regulations and best-practice standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining unit quality control logs.
  • May assist with developing and maintaining staff schedules and timekeeping.
  • Composes, types, and transcribes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications.
  • Maintains assigned calendar(s).
  • Maintains files and office equipment.
  • Assists Director with food ordering and stocking supplies.
  • May act as a resource and maintains rapport with staff and providers.
  • Understands fully the job descriptions of the Food Service Staff to function in this role.
  • Capable of filling the role in event of staffing shortages or call-ins of the cook/baker or assisting the cook/baker in food preparation and distribution, food storage and sanitation. (Call office, delivery host, cook, cafe or prep).
