About The Position

The Folder/Gluer Operator is responsible for operating and adjusting the gluer machine to produce high-quality printed packaging material in accordance with customer specifications. This role involves preparing the machine, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring precise control over the feeding, take-over, and inverting of blanks. The operator will perform make-ready tasks, resolve defects, and oversee general technicians working on the equipment. A strong emphasis is placed on quality control, adherence to safety and environmental policies (OHSE and Clean), and effective communication within the team. The role also involves motivating the crew, providing training, and conducting team meetings to ensure productivity and quality goals are met.

Requirements

  • High School diploma (or GED).
  • Minimum of 3 years of Folder/Gluer equipment operation within the food packaging industry.
  • Must have interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must possess basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages, weights and measures.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bobst Alpina, Expertfold and or Heidelburg gluer preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and adjust gluer machine, troubleshoot and monitor operation.
  • Prepare gluer by performing a variety of tasks to produce a consistent, high quality product by precise control of feeding, take over and inverting of batches of blanks, setting automatic loading and constant blank heights maintaining steady and precise feeding at all speeds making adjustments as needed to exceed customer expectation.
  • Resolve any defects and adjustments to produce high quality product by performing a variety of make ready tasks utilizing quick and easy settings for high productivity and precision operations.
  • Oversee General technicians working on equipment.
  • Make adjustments, clear jams, while processing product, maintaining speed and quality.
  • Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy. Makes sure jobs are complete and error free.
  • Ensures finished product exceeds customer expectations.
  • Ensure all checklists are completed.
  • Support and communicate all ISO standards and quality objectives to the Team.
  • Ensures complete adherence and compliance to the OHSE and Clean policies.
  • Assists team members in maintaining clean and safe environment.
  • Maintains and follows all company policies and procedures for safety, PPE and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.
  • Follows all PPE procedures at all times.
  • Follows established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste.
  • Maintains and wears proper uniform according to company policy.
  • Use Company provided safety lifting equipment.
  • Properly stores and arranges work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.
  • Interacts with the team and co-workers in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance.
  • Communicates accurate information to all team members in a professional and courteous manner that conveys a willingness to assist.
  • Accepts direction and feedback from leadership and follows through appropriately.
  • Communicates regularly with team toward goals and required results, providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when goals or results are not met.
  • Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provide training as required.
  • Consistently uses appropriate established channels of communication.
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads, Shift Leads, or Management.
